Good Good Things – June 3, 2025
Happy June. Please enjoy a little roundup of things that I deem “good” and “of interest.”
Happy Pride Month to My Friends and Family
Blessed to have you all in my life. Celebrate some Pride love at Philadelphia Museum of Art and at these Philly Pride Events.

Why your 5.00 miles on your watch became 4.99 miles on Strava
“The Strava Tax isn’t actually Strava being petty or skimming distance off your achievements. It’s more of a collision between mathematical precision and the messy reality of how different devices handle GPS data. Here’s the thing: when your watch displays 10.00 miles, that’s often not what it actually recorded.”

Top 25 Premier League Goals of the 2024-25 Season
When I was a kid, my soccer team was battling a far superior team. We were tied at 2-2 when our very animated (and awesome) coach suffered a minor heart attack on the sidelines. As he was being carted into an ambulance, he yelled, “Keep ’em going, Jeff!” I was the goalkeeper. I replied, “You got it, coach!” Then, like a movie, I allowed a rapid succession of shots to go by me, without barely moving, and we lost 6-2. The moral of this story? Watching an adult almost die is scary as hell.

Featured Pet: Ernie
My daughter always texts my photos of her friends’ pets when she visits them. This is why you should have children. I try not to have favorite pets or rank them but good lord, Ernie is just the best big boy around.
Ernie: a world-class big boy.

Rachael Leigh Cook & Freddie Prinze Jr. Set for a ‘She’s All That’ Reunion in Upcoming Christmas Movie

“The Christmas Affair follows superstar sportscasters Natalie (Cook) and Gabe (Prinze Jr.), who form an unlikely alliance after their spouses are caught cheating weeks before Christmas. As holiday chaos and media attention mount, they begin to fall for each other. But is this just a rebound…or the start of a real Christmas romance?”
You know it will be a fun movie because Rachael Leigh Cook is good in everything and the script is written by my very talented and funny friend Elizabeth Hackett and her equally-talented writing partner Hilary Galanoy, who also serve as executive producers.
“She’s All That” Fun Fact: Despite many reports, Freddie Prinze Jr. did NOT have a personal hacky sack coach. A professional hacky-sack player was hired as a double for the scene. That’s right, there are professional hacky-sack players in this world.
Very Good Father’s Day Gift Idea
Sir William and the Quest for the Holy Jug
Will Bosi might be the most unassuming and likeable athlete in any sport I follow but don’t let this smiling Scot fool you, he is a total beast when it comes to climbing hard things. This humorous and insightful video captures the dedication and drive necessary to check off a box on your big to-do list.
“Join Sir William Bosi on his quest to conquer Excalibur 9b+ in Arco, Italy. This film produced by Crimp Films documents Will’s three year journey to conquer Excalibur, battling not only one of the world’s most challenging sport routes but torrential rain plaguing his attempts.”
New Zealand’s Most Loved Bakery
My ironclad guarantee to you: In every issue of Good Good Things, I will promote a palate-pleasing video highlighting yummy-looking food and the talented people who proudly make it.
“In this StoryBites food documentary, we explore what makes Grizzly more than just a bakery—it’s a culture of obsession, trust, and relentless pursuit of excellence. From learning how to make sourdough and how to make Montreal style bagels, to tasting what might just be freshest best croissants in the business, we spent 12 hours (out of their standard 22) immersed in the rhythm of their kitchen.”
Hot-Weather Hiking Tips: Getting outdoors is good for the body, mind and soul and REI has some very good tips for being outdoors in the sunshine and heat.
Director Kathryn Bigelow Revolutionized The POV Shot
“While filmmakers have utilized POV shots since the early days of cinema, Kathryn Bigelow’s approach transcends mere technical innovation. She uses the POV shot as a storytelling device, propelling audiences into the emotional and psychological states of her characters.”
