The Beths are a vibe. They make me want to go birding, play cricket on the beach, and end the day getting some ice cream with my family as the sun sets. Mostly, they make me happy, even their sad songs, because they seem like nice people who love making incredibly thoughtful and catchy music.

The New Zealand-based quartet (vocalist Elizabeth Stokes, guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and drummer Tristan Deck) blends melodic power pop and harmonies with a sonic flair and creative arrangements. Elizabeth’s songs are filled with humor, hope, melancholy, and a peek into the Kiwi way of life.

They are near the tippy top of Jeff’s Favorite Bands of the Past Five Years list. A real honor for them, I’m sure.
