Awesome New Trail Bridge on the Schuylkill Banks
Running down the Schuylkill River Trail in Philadelphia just got a little longer and more scenic.
Congratulations to Schuylkill Banks on the Christian to Crescent Trail Connector opening ceremony. The bridge is beautiful, and so many happy runners, hikers, bikers, walkers, and enjoyers of nature came out in droves on a sunny Saturday morning to enjoy it. Great job to everyone involved. Always good to see that weirdo Gritty too.
Details:
“The Christian to Crescent trail section is located along the east side of the Schuylkill River from the southern end of the South to the Christian section near Christian Street to the northern end of the Grays Ferry Crescent section at 34th Street. This is the newest trail section and fills a 2,812-foot gap in the five-county Schuylkill River Trail. It features a 650-foot cable-stay bridge that boasts magnificent views of the city and Schuylkill River, trail lighting for nighttime use and safety, benches, trash cans, trees and flowering perennials, a tunnel connection to Grays Ferry Crescent, and an accessible connection to the 34th Street Bridge.”
Bonus Trail: When you get to the end of the trail at the northern end of the Grays Ferry Crescent section at 34th Street, you can jog over the Grays Ferry Bridge and make a left and work your way down to the Bartram’s Gardens Mile Trail Greenway. Another pedestrian bridge to connect both trails is in the works.

I enjoy being outside and running on trails and sometimes I enjoy being online. More >
