EarthCam Live: Abbey Road Crossing
I love a good live cam and while I usually like to keep tabs on baby bald eagles being birthed or some bears chilling in a remote river, seeing Beatle nerds snapping photos and recreating the famous street crossing is kind of nice.
Travel to one of London’s most visited landmarks – the Abbey Road zebra crossing – with EarthCam’s 4K streaming webcam located just outside Abbey Road Studios. Made famous by The Beatles, this street crossing was featured on the cover the band’s 1969 album “Abbey Road.” Whether you’re a Beatles fanatic or not, download this app and watch as thousands try and replicate the iconic photo.

Zach Galifianakis Needs You to Know ‘Between Two Ferns’ Wasn’t Real
As a fan of laughter, I am a big Zach G. guy. I’m digging his new gardening show, and I was stoked to see an interview with him pop up on my Youtube feed. Jesse David Fox of Vulture does a fine job getting Zach to open up and discuss varied topics including tech bros, AI, Netflix, “The Hangover” series, and being from Appalachia. No spoilers, but Zach did admit he only cut one “Between Two Ferns” interview short because he was afraid the guest might hit him! Watch an find out who it was.

Professional Birder Answers Birding Questions
“Hi, first-time birder here, what do I do after I catch one?” Kidding! I’m Kidding!!
“Professional Birder Christian Cooper joins WIRED to answer your questions about birding and birdwatching. How does a birder actually find the birds they’re looking for? How do I attract more birds to my garden? Is it okay to put a baby bird back in its nest?”
Bobby Moynihan Had A Hilarious Response To Daniel Radcliffe Realizing SNL Might Be The ‘Last Time’ He’d Play Harry Potter
This quote is so funny. Love Bobby Moynihan. Read article here.
We were rehearsing and I was just kind of looking at him and I was like, ‘Are you ok, man?’ He just looked a little in the zone…He’s like, ‘I think this might be the last time I’m dressed as Harry Potter ever.’ I was dressed as Hagrid, and I just put my hand on his shoulder and went like, ‘That’s crazy. I’m not familiar with these films. I think you’re going through something amazing right now. I’m glad I’m here with you. But, I did not watch these movies.’
Need some more Bobby? Might I suggest a visit from Fourvel?
Artist: Alex Senna

It is time once again, to take in some more stunning murals.
In the large-scale murals of Alex Senna, figures gather, greet one another, relax, and interact with their own shadows in bold compositions. The Brazilian artist is known for his black-and-white murals that emphasize community and emotional bonds. Togetherness, security, and positivity pervade the scenes, sometimes playful and other times more contemplative. Set against colorful backgrounds and amid urban structures, Senna’s pieces emphasize connection, support, reflection, and belonging.
See more at Colossal and visit the Alex Senna website.

Boston Marathon Runners Help Another Runner Who Collapsed Finish The Race
On an unseasonably hot and humid day last April, I ran the Schuylkill River Ultra 50K. I knew I needed to keep downing electrolytes and salt tabs because heat means cramps. Despite my consistent sodium intake, the dreaded cramps hit around Mile 26 with 5 long miles to go and boy oh boy, they hit hard. When your calves tighten up, it’s hard to stay upright. You look like a newborn calf stumbling and bumbling about.
Not sure what went down with this runner but by the looks of it — legs buckling, falling down repeatedly — this guy was having an epic cramping situation in addition to being pretty darn tired.
Seeing this man in distress and very close to his goal, two selfless runners (PRs be damned!) came to his aid and helped carry him to the finish. That is awesome. It did the heart good to see this bit of humanity and sportsmanship.
It’s Hiking Season (It’s Always Hiking Season)

It’s time to hike, people! Grab your favorite trekking poles or find a nice solid stick (provided by nature) and head out on your favorite local trail. Disconnect with tech and reconnect with the great outdoors, I say! Need to find some good spots? I use the free version of All Trails.
Instagram knew that I just enjoyed a lovely hike in the Wissahickon on Sunday and served me up this interesting series of hiking/walking events…
UltraTrax is a single-day endurance walk where you choose your distance: 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles. You have 10 hours to finish. It’s built for all levels, welcoming walkers, hikers, and ruckers. Go unweighted or carry 10, 20, or 35 pounds for an extra challenge and extra swag.
I know nothing about this company but saw a couple of positive reviews, and this seems like a fun day out in the woods. Let me know if you have partaken in one of these events.
“Jeff, why would I pay money to hike some loops around a forest when I can do it for free?”
Excellent question. You do not need to pay money to enjoy a long day out on the trails alone of with friends. That said, I participate in trail races for a few reasons that I think might apply here:
- I like to run far but hate carrying a lot of water and food. Events provide these essentials at multiple points on the course.
- I like to meet people. I train alone but I really love the interaction and support of others during events and races.
- I like to challenge myself sometimes. If you like to hike and do it a lot, it’s fun to see how far you can go with a solid support system around you.
If you are in the greater Philly area, here’s an UltraTrax event for you:
UltraTrax Schuylkill Trail – Philadelphia, PA – September 26. A rolling, forest-driven grind through the Schuylkill Center, one of Philadelphia’s most expansive natural preserves, where winding singletrack, steady climbs, and technical rocky sections keep your legs honest from start to finish.

Enjoy a Very Good Music Fact
I’m about halfway done writing Volume 7 of Very Good Music Facts and I thought I’d give you a little Smithereens nugget while we wait.
“A Girl Like You” was written by singer Pat DiNizio on assignment for Cameron Crowe’s film “Say Anything.” DiNizio based the lyrics on bits of dialogue in the screenplay. When the film’s producer asked DiNizio to change the lyrics because it revealed too much of the plot. DiNizio refused, and the Smithereens decided to keep the song. It became the lead single for their 1989 album, 11. Madonna was originally enlisted to sing the harmony vocals, but failed to show up for the recording session. They got Maria Vidal to do the vocals instead.

New Boards of Canada is Lovely
The enigmatic Scots are back and for that I am grateful. Boards of Canada will release their new album, Inferno, on May 29, 2026, through Warp Records.
You: “Hey Jeff, any Scottish fun facts?”
Me: “A Sunny Day in Glasgow is from Philly. Boards of Canada are from Scotland. Scottish band The Bay City Rollers are named after a town in Michigan. Scottish band Nazareth took their name from Nazareth, PA, which is mentioned in ‘The Weight’ by The Band.”

Shaturday Morning Cartoons – Best Theme Songs!
This elite squad of pop culture mavens watch mostly bad Saturday morning cartoons from years past that you might or might not remember and somehow make it a truly warm and wonderful hang. They are also extremely funny. This episode is one of their best, the “Hammerman” theme song is too legit to quit (giving you exposition).
After six seasons, the Shaturday gang pored over 163 episodes in search of the best cartoon theme song they’ve ever shown. Watch as George, Joe, Caitlin, and Roy painstakingly construct a 16 tune bracket under the watchful eye of Director Steve.
Grab a bowl of sugary goodness and watch all the episodes here.

there’s lots of changes but one of the major differences between the new internet and the old internet is that on the old internet when someone linked to an article that generally meant you would actually be able to read it

They badly want this big organic LET’S ROLL moment where the country rallies behind them and they become the movie heroes and they just cannot get the majority of regular people to play along. They’re too fundamentally insincere and unrelatable. If it was going to happen it would’ve happened by now.
